This state-of-the-art dental technology makes it possible to restore the mouth as closely as possible to its natural state and eliminate the need to cut down adjacent teeth for bridgework.
To provide you with a better understanding of dental implants, we have provided the following multimedia presentation. Many common questions pertaining to dental implants are discussed.

Dental implants are used to replace natural tooth roots in areas of the mouth where teeth are missing. The most common type of dental implant is the root-form implant. Root-form implants are replacement, or substitute tooth roots.
The reason it is so important to replace the tooth root and not just the visible part of the tooth (crown) is because natural tooth roots, which are embedded in the bone, preserve the bone. When teeth are missing, the bone that previously supported those teeth deteriorates. This process is called bone resorption. The bone can be preserved by replacing missing tooth roots with dental implants. Since the bone actually forms a strong bond to the implants, they can serve virtually the same functions as natural tooth roots: a strong foundation for biting and chewing, and stimulation for the bone to preserve facial structures.
Dr. Poulos was one of the first dental implant surgeons in Santa Clara County to receive advanced training in dental implants and provide this service to patients. He has successfully placed over 6,000 dental implants, and always coordinates your dental implant treatment plan with your general dentist or prosthodontist. Through continuing education and as an educator himself, Dr. Poulos is abreast of the most current information on implant dentistry and has been placing dental implants for more than 25 years.
If, like many others, you feel implant dentistry is the right choice for you, we ask that you undergo a thorough diagnosis with a dental/radiographic examination and a health history. During this consultative visit, Dr. Poulos or Dr. Gallez, your implant specialists, address your specific needs for improved oral function and desires for an attractive smile. Your questions and concerns are important to them. Dr. Poulos & Dr. Gallez take the time to listen to what you have to say and discuss all of your options with you one-on-one. Dr. Poulos or Dr. Gallez and their team work with you very closely to make your procedure a success.
