We are your advocates for care and always welcome any questions you have about Periodontics or your dental care coverage. That is why we think it is important to address the topic of dental benefits.

As a courtesy to our patients, we file insurance claims. To submit an accurate claim, it is important we have your most current insurance information on file. Please inform us of any changes in your coverage so that we may keep your co-payments as low as possible and help you receive the periodontal care and attention you deserve.

Please do note many insurance companies do not provide fees until after treatment is completed. It is sometimes difficult to accurately estimate your insurance co-payment before treatment is rendered. Upon receipt of an insurance payment, any balance due is billed to you. A refund is issued when you have a credit balance.

An Explanation of Dental Benefits

It is our perception that the term dental insurance is often misleading. What is commonly known as dental insurance can more accurately be termed dental benefits. In general, dental benefits are not intended to pay for all treatment. Rather, dental benefits assist with treatment costs. This explains why most benefits plans cover a percentage of each procedure and limit patients to an annual maximum. Individual dental benefits providers establish their own criteria for coverage and percentage paid.
