Guided Tissue Regeneration is a surgical procedure that "reverses" previously lost gum and bone tissue around the teeth.
Most techniques utilize membranes, which are inserted over the bone defects. Most of these membranes are bio-absorbable, and do not require removal. Other regenerative procedures involve the use of bioactive gels, proteins, peptides, etc., to stimulate new bone formation.

Periodontal regeneration is defined as the formation of new bone, new cementum and new periodontal ligament to form a functional attachment apparatus on a previously pathologically exposed tooth root.
The safety and efficacy of GEM 21S® Growth-factor Enhanced Matrix is a highly predictable procedure for bone support regeneration. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) evaluated it in a large and extensive clinical trial study involving 180 patients and 11 clinical sites (4 universities and 7 private practices.)
In our practice we use GEM 21S® because of the incredible results we see in patients.
It has long been the goal of periodontal treatment although, until now, it was commonly considered challenging and highly unpredictable by most clinicians. With GEM 21SS® and more predictable and very safe solution is now available.
Clinical data concludes that over approximately 6 months maturation of cementum, PDL, and supporting alveolar bone occurs. The end result is enhanced bone and periodontal regeneration that reduces pocket depth & repairs damage done by periodontal disease.
