Meet Dr. Poulos

San Jose Periodontist Dr Louis PoulosDr. Poulos earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree (D.D.S.) from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 1970. Following 7 years in private general practice, Dr. Poulos completed a 2-year surgical residency in periodontics at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. This advanced training certified him to practice as a specialist in Periodontics.

Dr. Poulos has practiced Periodontics and Implant Surgery in Santa Clara County since 1979. He is an active member of the following professional organizations:

In 1993, Dr. Poulos founded the San Jose Dental Study Club, which is an organization devoted to teaching other dentists the most current methods of diagnosis and comprehensive treatment. Dr. Poulos is one of just a few dentists in California recognized and certified by the California Board of Dental Examiners to instruct other dentists. He also hosts several continuing education seminars featuring national level speakers. These seminars are open to Study Club members, as well as other dental professionals from the San Francisco Bay Area.

As of 1995, the San Jose Study Club is an affiliated chapter of the Seattle Study Club.

Dr. Poulos is married and has three daughters.

Meet Our Staff

Implant Dentist & Periodontist, Dr. Poulos has an expert staff, which includes an office manager to help with all of your administrative needs, a patient care coordinator who makes appointments convenient and easy, two full-time, specially trained periodontal hygienists, two dental assistants who make your comfort and relaxation in the dental chair their mission, and a licensed surgical nurse who assists with implant placement and periodontal surgeries.

Our periodontal care team is committed to always putting patients first because your health and comfort is our top priority. From the moment your appointment is scheduled we are here to provide you with excellent care.

Dr. Louis Poulos is a specialist in Dental Implants (Implantology) and Periodontics. His practice specializes in conservative treatment of gum disease including specialized interests in soft tissue reconstructive plastic surgery to aesthetically enhance your smile and dental implants that can replace one or all of your missing teeth. He uses the latest technolgy and science to regrow bone (regeneration) in the jaws where bone loss was caused by infection from gum disease, loss of teeth, or injury. This includes sinus bone grafting where many patients lack sufficient bone thickness in the upper posterior jaw to place dental implants. He diagnoses and treats oral pathology.

Although no one really likes to go to the doctor or dentist, we strive to make your visits with us as comfortable and as pleasant as possible. We strongly believe that our patients' comfort is an important part of quality dental care. Our mission is to treat every patient as carefully and caring as possible to improve the quality of their lives.

Implant Dentist Dr. Poulos believes that your right to choose a dentist is an important freedom. We work closely as a team with your referring dentists, but a referral by a dentist is not required for a visit to our office. We welcome referrals from patients and friends of the practice.
