How Sedation Dentistry Works

With sedation periodontics, Dr. Poulos and Dr. Gallez can often complete years of needed treatment in a single visit. Most sedation patients nap through their appointments and leave feeling relaxed, healthy, and well cared for.

There are a variety of treatment options and services available to sedation patients. The sedation process always begins with a consultation. You speak directly with Dr. Poulos or Dr. Gallez to discuss your needs and concerns. Then you meet one-on-one with a highly trained care specialist who gathers your health history information and works with Dr. Poulos and Dr. Gallez to complete your initial exam.

After your consultation and initial exam, we will create your treatment plan. If sedation care is the right decision for you, at each appointment Dr. Poulos or Dr. Gallez will administer appropriate medication or work with an Anesthesiologist to ensure you rest comfortably during your treatment appointment.

During your visit our doctors and expert care team are with you to make sure you are relaxed and resting comfortably. We monitor your blood pressure, oxygen intake and heart rate throughout your treatment session. Once treatment is complete, we stay with you until you are alert and ready to go home with your companion.

A companion will need to drive you to and from your visit and be available after your appointment to help you rest.
