I.V. Sedation and Anesthesia

For patients with special needs or for those who require complex surgical Periodontal treatment, I.V. sedation may be recommended or preferred. To provide our patients with comprehensive anesthesia solutions, Dr. Poulos and Dr. Gallez partner with Dr. Michael Lam, a California board certified Physician-Anesthesiologist. Dr. Lam brings over 25 years of surgical Anesthesiology experience to each treatment session. Like Dr. Poulos, Dr. Lam has taught graduate level medical students at Stanford University.

Dr. Lam offers our patients the same level of anesthesia service and care provided in a hospital operating room. However, our patients are able to receive this care in one of our private treatment suites.

Throughout the treatment process Dr. Poulos, Dr. Gallez and Dr. Lam work together to ensure our patients are resting comfortably. Dr. Lam monitors the blood pressure, oxygen intake and heart rate of each patient during the treatment process. He administers appropriate medications to helping patients maintain a dozing state and decrease any discomfort associated with care. Meanwhile, Dr. Poulos and Dr. Gallez perform their surgical treatment to restore oral health and function.
